This elegant and highly original picture portraying a group of flamingoes was painted, in all likelihood, by a French artist in the very early 20th century.
Of exquisite workmanship, displaying an elegant palette and capturing the flamingoes' noble gait, the picture shows, in the foreground, a proud exemplar sporting vibrant colours in its typical natural marshland habitat, an area rich in food and a safe haven for such birds. The realism of the image sets off the splendid bird's beauty to perfection.
Flamingoes, social animals that live in huge flocks in watery areas, stand from 1 to 1.5 metres in height and are commonly found on the American continent and in Europe, Asia and Africa.
